Control Sonos from Your Apple Watch

The official Sonos app doesn't have an Apple Watch app – which means you can't control your speakers from your wrist while cooking, exercising, or anywhere else your phone isn't immediately accessible. Lyd for Sonos fills this gap with its best-in-class Apple Watch app.

Why Control Sonos from Your Watch?

Your Apple Watch is already on your wrist. Your iPhone is across the room, in your pocket, or charging. When you need to skip a song, adjust volume, or pause music, reaching for your phone breaks whatever you're doing.

The official Sonos app forces you to find your phone, unlock it, open the app, wait for it to connect, then finally control playback. Your Watch should already handle this.

Sonos' App Doesn't Offer Watch Control

Sonos has never released an Apple Watch app. Not in 2015 when Apple Watch launched. Not in the years since when users repeatedly requested it. Not even after the Sonos S2 app redesign when they rebuilt everything from scratch.

👉 You need a third-party app that puts Sonos control on your wrist.

How Lyd Makes This Possible

Lyd's Apple Watch app gives you full Sonos control without touching your iPhone. It's been the gold-standard Watch remote since 2019.

Key Features

Digital Crown Volume Control

Rotate the Digital Crown – the knob on the side of your Watch – to adjust volume. Rotate up to increase, down to decrease. You feel each increment without looking at the screen.

This beats on-screen sliders for two reasons: you don't have to look at your Watch, and you get finer control. Perfect for quick adjustments when you're mid-conversation, cooking, or half-asleep.

Adjusting volume has never been so easy on a Sonos speaker

Watch Face Complications

Add a Lyd complication to any watch face. It shows which room is currently playing at a glance. Tap it to jump directly into playback controls.

Works on every watch face type – from minimal ones showing just playback status to information-dense faces displaying full room names and playlist info.

How to add: Press and hold your watch face, tap Edit, swipe to complications, tap a slot, scroll to find Lyd, select your preferred style, press the Digital Crown to save.

Works Without Your iPhone

The Watch app connects directly to your Sonos system over your home WiFi network. Your iPhone doesn't need to be nearby, powered on, or even exist.

Initial setup requires the iPhone app, but after that, the Watch is independent. This matters when your phone is dead, charging in another room, or you've left it at home.

Beyond Basic Playback

Voice Messages

Record a message up to 30 seconds and play it on any speaker. Tell the kids dinner is ready, remind someone about an appointment, or broadcast messages throughout your house.

The message automatically pauses any currently playing music, plays your announcement at a comfortable volume, then resumes playback.

Send voice messages to any of your Sonos speakers

Browse Your Music Library

Your entire music library on your wrist. Browse Sonos Favorites, search all streaming services, and start any playlist or radio station – all without your iPhone.

For the smoothest experience, add frequently played items to Sonos Favorites in the official app. They sync automatically to Lyd and appear instantly on your Watch.

Group and Ungroup Speakers

Sync music across multiple rooms or separate them into different zones right from your Watch. Select the room playing the music you want to share, open the menu, tap "Manage group", check or uncheck rooms, tap Done.

Siri Voice Control

Control Sonos hands-free while cooking, working out, or doing anything where you can't interact with your Watch. Just speak your command.

Why Lyd for Apple Watch?

Lyd has been the trusted Apple Watch Sonos remote since 2019 – years before other solutions entered the market. The Watch app isn't an afterthought or recent addition; it's a core feature refined over time with many thousands of hours of real-world usage.

Unlike Watch apps that require your iPhone nearby or lock features behind subscriptions, Lyd gives you full independent control with a one-time purchase. The same purchase also includes iPhone Lock Screen widgets, Home Screen widgets, Live Activities, and Apple Shortcuts support.
